The successor to Burhan Wani, a militant commander of the Hizbul Mujahideen faction was killed by Indian forces in an encounter yesterday. Sabzaar Ahmad Butt replaced Burhan Wani as the chief commander of the militant group after the killing of Burhan Wani which immediately led to widespread protests and large-scale violence in the held valley.

According to Indian sources, there was information that at least 3 militants are hiding in the village of Taral. Sabzaar Ahmad was hiding in the village along with another freedom fighter. Bother militants were killed. People from all around Kashmir immediately went on a protest and widespread violence erupted which is still in progress till the filing of this report.


The Associated Press informed that as the forces started operation in the area, all the Kashmiris rushed to the streets and chanted anti-India slogans and demanded freedom. The protesters were also displaying Pakistani flags and chanted slogans in favor of Pakistan.

The funeral of the militant commander was performed in the area. The coffin and dead body of the militant commander were covered with Pakistani flag. The protesters also tried to save the besieged militants and later on, started pelting stones at the forces present in the area. Protesting students and people were chanting slogans as “Go India Go Back” and “We want freedom”.


Indian army is using special pelting guns that have killed or injured hundred of Kashmiris. These guns are said to be purchased from Israel where they were used against the Palestinian protesters. Hundreds of Kashmiris have lost their eyesight due to the shotgun like bullets.
